Cafcass stands for Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service. Their duty is to safeguard and promote the welfare of children going through the family justice system. Their website is a useful resource not only for those parents and children trying to resolve problems in the court system but also for those trying to find help and avoid an application to the court.

Resolution – First for Family Law
Resolution is an organisation of lawyers, mediators, family consultants, financial neutrals and other professionals committed to a non-confrontational approach to sorting out the problems that arise from family breakdown.
Collaborative practitioners are trained by Resolution and all are Resolution members.
Resolution provides support and information for both clients and professionals.

If you’re splitting-up or getting a divorce, family mediation can help you sort out arrangements with your ex or other family members. Family mediation helps all sorts of people: married and unmarried, parents, grandparents, step-parents and young people can all take part.
Voices in the Middle – Giving Children a Voice
Who we are. Voices in the Middle is for all young people, who are in the middle of parents splitting up. We provide a place for you to share your voice, read helpful content and connect with support.
For parents this is a good place to hear how your children might be feeling on your separation.
I was really pleased to discover that there was an alternative to the traditional essentially adversarial process around divorce. For me the collaborative approach resonated strongly with my personal values of trying wherever possible to achieve a win – win; or at the least reducing the harm to either party.
